Meeting with the General Department of Customs and excise of Cambodia

Mr. CHHEAV Narath, EuroCham Board Member and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee, attended the meeting with the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia on October 25, 2023.

The delegation went to see Mr Pha Eng Veng, Deputy Director of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia. In addition to coordinating Cambodia's ASCUYDA system with the ASEAN Single Window system to expedite cross-border goods shipment and prevent the need for duplicate submissions to multiple systems, superfluous paperwork was identified as a major problem. 

The topic of toughening up on illegal goods was brought up once more, but no fresh ideas were offered. In order to better draw in business and investment, there seemed to be agreement to proceed with the integration of Cambodian customs into the ASEAN Single Window system and a willingness to collaborate with the private sector to shorten the time it takes to clear customs and boost transparency.
