EuroCham: Skills Gap Assessment Report
28 June 2024
EuroCham Cambodia and the Skills Development Programme (SDP), a project authorised by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by Swisscontact, released the EuroCham Skills Gap Assessment 2024, a research-based analysis of Cambodia’s labour market, on June 28, 2024.
A report aims to help Cambodia understand its skills gaps and support the Cambodian workforce by providing dynamic training platforms. The survey surveyed 106 companies in five key sectors, focusing on electrical, mechanical, construction, tourism and hospitality, and manufacturing. The findings show a significant need for technical and soft skills training, with leadership, quality control, and project management being the most-needed skills. Swisscontact Cambodia Country Director Rajiv Pradhan believes the Skills Gap Assessment will help identify these gaps and tailor training programmes to address them. As Cambodia aims to graduate from LDC status by 2030, skills will be crucial for its growth.
Mr. Narath CHHEAV, Chairman of EuroCham’s Human Resources Committee, and Managing Director of CoGen Consulting Group, said: "By supporting and investing in your staff's learning, you develop a talent pool that elevates both your company and the business community around you. The combination of prosperous businesses and empowered people will make Cambodia a more alluring place to live and invest in."
